BURLINGTON, WA – One day down, and twelve teams remain in contention at D-III Nationals. Commiserations to Franciscan Fatal, Berry Bucks, Richmond Spidermonkeys, and Hillsdale Chargers, all of whom went winless in pool play and are relegated to consolation play for the rest of the weekend. We’ll get back to them later in our coverage. For now, each of the remaining teams has something to think about for the games ahead, whether that be an issue of their own that needs to be rectified or a problem an upcoming opponent could pose.

The first two rounds for Elon went about as well as one can reasonably expect. Sure, the offense was a little loose with the disc, but they also showed an impressive commitment to getting it back after a turn. But during their bye, the team seemed to completely lose focus. They came out flat against Carleton, and let themselves spiral out of control. The defensive intensity was lacking, and there were too many simple execution errors. Elon needs to ensure they don’t suffer a repeat tomorrow morning, or their prequarters matchup will be over early.
