D-III Men’s 2026 Player of the Year: Middlebury’s Louis Douville Beaudoin

Recognizing the top performer of the 2026 season.

Each year, Ultiworld presents our annual College Awards. Our staff evaluates the individual performances of players from throughout the season, talking to folks around college ultimate, watching film, and look at statistics, voting upon the awards to decide those to be honored. The regular season and the college Series are both considered, with extra emphasis for performances in the competitive and high-stakes environment at Nationals.

After announcing the finalists in our First-Team All-American, we are proud to present Player of the Year, our most prestigious award. Our Player of the Year winner is the best performer of the 2026 college season, and the highest vote-getter for All-American honors. The winner is not eligible for consideration in any of our other individual awards. The runner-ups are the second and third most vote-getters.

Louis Douville Beaudoin is, perhaps unsurprisingly, the 2026 D-III Men’s Player of the Year, the second straight left-hander from Middlebury’s O-line to receive the honor.

Plenty of words can be used to explain Douville Beaudoin’s talents, but only one summarizes him so succinctly: explosive. His explosiveness takes on many forms. He’s incredibly fast, especially when he gets a full head of steam, and can simply outrun any defender for an easy score on a deep cut. Or he’s electric in the air, like when he sent Middlebury to the national final by posterizing Elon’s Jacob Lairson. There’s also his throwing, like this outrageous assist against Claremont at Easterns. But what stands out the most is his explosion in small spaces. So many of his goal contributions involve a quick cut or a jab step in the redzone, creating just a tiny sliver of space to get free. Put on any Middlebury game from this season, and you’ll see two or three examples of defenders trying and failing to stay with him.

The numbers, too, back up Douville Beaudoin’s merit for this award. At Nationals, his statline was video game-like: 18G/16A/4D/1T. Those are the kind of numbers you expect when you set the difficulty to Easy and take out all your frustration on the helpless computer. But Douville Beaudoin did that against the best competition in D-III. And yet, watching him play left a similar feeling: everything looked so easy for Louis Douville Beaudoin in 2026, and that’s why he’s our Player of the Year.
