Saturday at the 2026 US Open was one of the craziest days in the recent history of the Men’s Division. There were controversial calls, wild plays, and a slew of upsets that turned our perception of the division completely upside down. Before #2 San Francisco Revolver and #16 Seattle Sockeye compete for the US Open crown on Sunday morning, let’s judge some overreactions to Saturday’s results and the state of the division at large.
Sockeye Are Title Contenders
We’ll start with the surprise team playing on ESPNU tomorrow morning. Sockeye entered the season 10th in our Power Rankings. After a 4-2 showing at PEC West that featured a blowout loss to Revolver and a shocking universe point loss against #15 Eugene Dark Star, they slipped to their current #16 ranking. Friday’s comeback against #13 Denver Johnny Bravo was impressive, but not all that surprising. Then Seattle came out Saturday morning and shocked #3 Boston DiG, upsetting the PEC East champs 15-13. They followed it up by taking down #1 Portland Rhino Slam! on double game point, earning their spot in Sunday’s final.
Verdict: Overreaction.
