USA Ultimate (USAU) announced this week that Ben Feng has been named its new manager of competition and national team programs for the college division. The position’s responsibilities include competition structure, events direction, and registration and rostering for USAU’s college divisions, as well as the U24 National Teams.
USAU’s press release notes that Feng will also work on developing new initiatives for USAU’s college division, including “an emphasis on expanding opportunities for new and diverse communities.”
“The next 12 months will be quite unique with colleges returning to play and three college championship tournaments occurring between December and May,” said Feng in the release. “Ultimately, we have the ability to make a positive impact on the college sports landscape while emphasizing the growth of equity, diversity and inclusion.”

Before joining USAU, Feng managed safety protocols and logistics for the National Women’s Soccer League’s Challenge Cup in 2020. He has also worked as a strategic consultant for Fox Sports, conducting market research and analysis for the company’s mobile sports betting arm.
In ultimate, Feng was an event director for Color of Ultimate‘s west coast programming. He has coached nationals-level teams in the U-19 and adult club divisions, and most recently competed with San Francisco Mischief at the 2019 USAU Club Championships.
Feng replaces outgoing manager Tom Manewitz, who held the position for five years before leaving USAU this summer. (Manewitz discussed his time directing the division on Deep Look earlier this year.)

“[Feng’s] breadth of experience and passion for the sport will add some fresh perspective to our talented team. Luckily, Tom Manewitz and Ben have been spending a lot of quality time together these past few weeks to help facilitate a seamless handoff,” said USAU CEO Tom Crawford.
