Discussion
There were no significant changes to the top 20 since the preliminary rankings were released earlier this week; Wisconsin and Michigan swap spots at #8 and #9, but the bid allocation remains as initially projected.
Women’s Division I
Nationals Bid Allocation
AC: 2 bids
GL: 2 bids
ME: 1 bid
NC: 1 bid
NE: 2 bids
NW: 3 bids
OV: 2 bids
SC: 2 bids
SE: 1 bid
SW: 4 bids
Discussion
Again, no changes to the expected bid allocations for Women’s D-I, though Whitman ended up with a little more breathing room over Georgetown for the final spot than initially projected.
Men’s Division III
Nationals Bid Allocation
AC: 3 bids
GL: 1 bid
ME: 1 bid
NC: 1 bid
NE: 3 bids
NW: 1 bid
OV: 1 bid
SC: 3 bids
SE: 1 bid
SW: 1 bid
Discussion
As expected, given the volatility of the rankings in the division, Men’s D-III sees several changes that shake up the order of the top 20. Middlebury jumps from the #4 spot up to #2, while UNC Asheville slides ahead of Carleton GoP to ensure they hang on to the last strength bid. The division also ends up with the lowest ranked team qualifying for a bid as the Southwest’s autobid is earned by #45 Occidental.
Women’s Division III
Nationals Bid Allocation
AC: 1 bid
GL: 1 bid
ME: 1 bid
NC: 2 bids
NE: 4 bids
NW: 2 bid
OV: 2 bids
SC: 1 bids
SE: 1 bid
SW: 1 bid
Discussion
In the only division where bids changed with the final rankings, the Northwest will be pleased with the update to Women’s D-III. Portland moves up from #10 to #7 while Puget Sound moved ahead two spots to #14, earning a second bid for the region. The loser here is the South Central, as John Brown were bumped out of bid-earning territory.
