High School Power Rankings: Post-YULA Edition [3/20/18], Presented By Universe Point

Welcome to the second edition of the 2018 High School Power Rankings, presented by Universe Point cleats! The rankings can be permanently found on our Youth Rankings page.

Because many youth teams have not played yet this season, these rankings should still be considered preliminary and will change during the course of the spring. The rankings will eventually be used to determine invitations to the 2018 High School National Invite; currently, we plan to use the rankings published the week of May 7th as the final rankings before final bids are sent out (many bids will be sent out on a rolling basis).

If you have additional information about tournaments or team strength that you would like to be considered for the High School Power Rankings, please email [email protected].

Teams, if you would like to add logos and team information to your Team Pages, follow these instructions!

Without further ado, here are the Top 25 teams in the Boys’ and Girls’ High School Divisions!

Notes

  • #6 Carolina Friends won the YULA Invite this weekend as the favorite but didn’t move from their ranking as their performance was to expectations.
  • It’s a similar story from #9 Neuqua Valley, who easily won All Bets Are Off against a weaker field.
  • It was a sharp move upwards for HB Woodlawn after they reached the final of the YULA Invite, losing only to CFS. They got quality wins over Columbia, Jordan, and Lexington.
  • Four teams debut in the top 25 this week: Columbia, Woodrow Wilson, Lexington, and the Science Leadership Academy. SLA’s entry is most notable: they won all their games at the YULA Invite playing from the second tier, capping them out at a ninth place finish. Their five point win over Chapel Hill is especially impressive.
  • Expect more changes after this weekend’s Rivertown Throwdown.

Notes

  • Chapel Hill, combined with Durham School of the Arts, moves up three spots to #4 this week after taking home the YULA Invite crown over in-state rival East Chapel Hill. They got a 10-7 win over HB Woodlawn in semis.
  • East Chapel Hill’s run to the final nets them a five spot jump to #11.
  • Lexington went 4-2 at YULA with wins over Lower Merion and Green Hope to enter the rankings at #18.
  • Neuqua Valley was the other team to debut in the top 25 this week, after they won All Bets Are Off going split squad.
  • Carolina Friends drops the furthest this week after a bumpy 3-3 performance at YULA. They are no longer combined with Carrboro.
  • Expect more changes after this weekend’s Rivertown Throwdown.
