Callahan, and now Donovan, videos are dropping at a highly consumable rate. Many of us have fallen down the YouTube rabbit hole of autoplay, bobbing our heads to pop songs and marveling at dime hucks and layout montages. There’s an art to a truly great reel, and it can play a major part in an award campaign. As the number, quality, and diversity of videos has exploded, so too has commentary and criticism on the medium. Trends and staples have developed, forcing creators to attempt to find new ways to show off the talents of the college game’s stars.
So we decided to have some fun with Callahan & Donovan video season, listing the tropes of the formula for the common video. And then we slapped them on a 5 by 5 grid for a timeless favorite: Bingo!
