Seattle Tempest Claim Inaugural WUL Crown
The Seattle Tempest capped a dominant 2022 season by claiming the first Western Ultimate League title, knocking off hosts San Diego Super Bloom 18-15 in the championship game.
The Tempest trounced the Arizona Sidewinders 24-12 earlier in Championship Weekend to earn their spot in the final, while San Diego arrived via a 24-15 semifinal win over Oregon Onyx. Arizona defeated Oregon for third place on Sunday morning ahead of the title game, where Kody Lippincott made perhaps the play of the weekend with another insane layout grab:
It was a successful first full season for the league, which has already established a solid national fanbase and generated plenty of engagement within the community with its exciting on-field product and innovative rules and format.
