It’s been about a week since the Club Championships wrapped up, but the frisbee nerd in me cannot stop thinking about the experience. Of course, championships were won and some teams were eliminated–you can go to score reporter to see who won and lost the games, but it’s not always the teams with higher numbers in the win columns who are the real winners. With that in mind, and inspired by Roger Sherman’s weekly column on The Ringer1, here are just a few of the winners and losers of the 2022 club National Championships.
Winner: WUCC Success
There was a lot of chatter throughout the season about the difficulty of the ‘double peak,’ winning a WUCC championship and a USAU championship in the same summer. Well, Manuela Cardenas, Valeria Cardenas, Claire Chastain, and the entire roster of Seattle Mixtape (minus their four Worlds-only players) all managed to pull it off. Even New York PoNY, the men’s division winners at WUCC, had a successful tournament, reaching the semifinal.
