Welcome to the sixth edition of the 2025 High School Power Rankings! The rankings can be permanently found on our Youth Rankings page.
The rankings are used to determine invitations to the 2025 High School National Invite; currently, we plan to use the rankings published the week of May 19th as the final rankings before the last bids are sent out (many bids will be sent out on a rolling basis).
If you have additional information about tournaments or team strength that you would like to be considered for the High School Power Rankings, please email [email protected]. Teams, if you would like to add logos and team information to your Team Pages, follow these instructions!

Notes
- It was a stunning run from #16 Washburn in the bracket at the Neuqua Knockout, where they overcame a 4-0 deficit to #17 Middleton and then blew out the top Minnesota team, OWL, in the final to claim an HSNI autobid — and all after losing a game to Madison West in pool play! While Washburn hadn’t notched any great wins to this point in the season, they had proven to be a tough out, recently losing by just a goal to OWL before their big win at NK.
- #7 Green Canyon jumped back up the board after taking down the Utah State Championship, including a four-goal win over Lone Peak. Are we still sleeping on the defending HSNI champs? They haven’t played against elite opponents this season.
- Wissahickon’s inconsistency flared up again as they lost by four goals to Pennsbury at Philly Cities. It’s clear that when they are on, they are one of the country’s best teams. But they’ve also taken some tough losses.
- Albany had their worst showing of the season at California states, where they lost big to both Berkeley and El Cerrito. Berkeley dominated the tournament to win another California title.
- Given this weekend’s results, perhaps we’re seeing the signs of HSNI-qualified teams — who have largely dominated the teams they lost to this weekend — struggling to stay fully motivated. The losses will likely hurt their seeding at HSNI.
- The teams currently alive for the final strength bid: Arlington, East Chapel Hill, and Middleton. Arlington plays this weekend and could grab the autobid.

Notes
- With their superb season in Utah including a state championship, Provo earned a strength bid to HSNI, making them the 15th out of 16 teams to qualify.
- The DiscNW Washington state playoffs are underway. Franklin got a couple of key wins in the Seattle Public Schools qualifying bracket but fell last night to Nathan Hale 10-9 in state quarterfinals. Roosevelt, Garfield, and Ingraham join Hale in semifinals. Can the undefeated #1 Roosevelt continue their incredible season? They haven’t allowed an opponent to finish within two goals of them all year.
- El Cerrito took down the California State Championships in dominant fashion. Oakland Tech, who showed out at Spaghetti Western and earned an HSNI strength bid, was missing their top player and lost to El Cerrito and Berkeley.
- #13 Washburn topped #19 Edina by a goal to win the Hopkins Hustle.
- #16 Strath Haven was dominant at Philly Cities, topping #25 Springfield 13-4.
- If Amherst wins PVI, the teams currently alive for the final strength bid: Four Rivers, Franklin, and Edina. Four Rivers plays this weekend and could grab the final bid with a win at PVI.
Looking Ahead
The final chance to earn an autobid comes this weekend at the Pioneer Valley Invitational, a mega-tournament in the Northeast that includes a handful of club teams from Canada. Can someone pull off a Washburn and make a run to a title to claim a bid?
What will be especially interesting is if previously qualified teams like Lakeside boys and Amherst girls win the tournament. That bumps the autobid into a strength bid and will make final decisions very difficult. We will be assessing bubble teams’ complete seasons and evaluating their merits early next week before sending out a final bid.
Note that if a club team (not HSNI eligible) wins PVI, the autobid will go to the highest-finishing eligible high school team.
There are also a number of additional state tournaments coming up this weekend.
