One of our most popular series to begin each year, it’s time to look back at last year and let our readers decide some of the top plays of the year from 2025.
With all of the votes tallied, the winner is…

2025 Catch of the Year: Loes Coppejans – Belgium Women’s (WFDF WBUC)
Belgian captain Loes Coppejans captured the attention of the global ultimate community with her outstanding catch at the World Beach Ultimate Championships. On an upline cut, Coppejans makes a daring judgment call to go after a disc most would give up, pulling it in before it could become a turnover. And lest you think this was all she did, Coppejans led the Belgian women’s division side in total scores as their captain, and this one helped seal a key pool play win over Japan. Belgian ultimate has been on the rise, and while the women’s division hasn’t garnered as much attention as others, Coppejans is earning a healthy dose of recognition for her nation’s blossoming talent.
From beginning to end of this year’s Catch of the Year bracket, Loes Ceppejans’ layout catch in oncoming traffic has been a freight train, and no other play was able to derail it. She garnered no less than 68% of the votes in any of her four matchups, a testament that nobody was even close. Not the big names, not the game winners, no, it was Coppejans taking flight and extending her reach to pull the disc away from a preying defender.
