High School Power Rankings: Post-YULA Edition [3/23/26]

Which teams are the early favorites for HSNI bids?

Welcome to the second edition of the 2026 High School Power Rankings! The rankings can be permanently found on our Youth Rankings page.

Because many youth teams have not played yet this season, these rankings should be considered preliminary and will change during the course of the spring. The rankings will eventually be used to determine invitations to the 2026 High School National Invite; currently, we plan to use the rankings published the week of May 18th as the final rankings before final bids are sent out (many bids will be sent out on a rolling basis).

If you have additional information about tournaments or team strength that you would like to be considered for the High School Power Rankings, please email [email protected].

Teams, if you would like to add logos and team information to your Team Pages, follow these instructions!

Without further ado, here are the Top 25 teams in the Boys’ and Girls’ High School Divisions!

Notes

  • Congratulations to Lexington (MA) for taking down the YULA Invite and earning an autobid to HSNI! They had an easier path in pool play but then went on to take down SLA, Brooklyn Tech, and Chapel Hill through the bracket to take the title. It could be a very strong year for the perennial powerhouse Massachusetts program.
  • Despite not making the final, Brooklyn Tech (NY) surges to the highest spot amongst YULA teams behind Lexington thanks to their close loss and otherwise very strong performance on the weekend, including beating previously ranked Montgomery Blair in pool play 12-9. They also got wins over Jackson-Reed and Haverford. After their win over Columbia earlier in the spring, it’s clear now that Brooklyn Tech is a force this season.
  • Haverford (PA) and Science Leadership Academy (PA) both pop into the top 25 after their performances at YULA. It could be a big shakeup in Pennsylvania team strength this year, with previously strong teams like Wissahickon (PA) and Strath Haven (PA) falling out of the top 25.
  • Montgomery Blair (MD) and Carrboro (NC) fall out of the top 25, though they’re both close to the cut line.
  • Columbia (NJ)‘s strength from the fall looks a little less impressive now that we’re into the spring season.

Notes

  • Congratulations to HB Woodlawn (VA) for winning the YULA Invite and earning an autobid to HSNI! They absolutely dominated on the weekend with their closest game coming in the final vs Jordan (NC), a 9-7 win.
  • Welcome East (CO) and Jackson Reed (DC) to the top 25! East was a surprise top finisher at YULA, and their strength bumped up defending Colorado state champions Fairview (CO) in the rankings as well. Is Colorado on the national rise?
  • Jordan (NC), the 9th place finisher at last year’s HSNI, looked closer to that standard than taking a step back towards the bottom of the top 25 at YULA. Their only loss came to HB Woodlawn, and they moved up in the rankings as a result.
  • Strath Haven (PA) and Lower Merion (PA) both drop from the top 25.
  • No upsets yet in Washington state league play, so relative rankings of those teams have not changed. Seattle Invite could shake things up this weekend!

Looking Ahead

Teo more HSNI qualifiers are coming up this weekend: River Campus Classic and Seattle Invite (Girls)! Each of the tournaments is loaded with ranked teams.

The next set of HSNI qualifiers won’t happen until May, but there will be lots of other tournaments and local league games taking place in the interim. It’s going to be a great season!
