ROCKFORD, IL — Welcome to the College Championships, where no team is safe! After five rounds of play, every pool except C featured an upset, and it took a heroic comeback from Penn State to prevent that. Heroes defined themselves against the background of college ultimate, Cinderellas bolted for the ball, princes turned to frogs before our very eyes, and a few thrilling contests came down to one or two plays (or even one or two inches).

Let’s take a look at some of those heroes who began chiseling their names into the halls of record with great performances on day one in Rockford.
