Welcome to Better Box Scores’ coverage of the semi-pro seasons. It is anchored by EDGE, which converts goals, assists, blocks, turnovers, and yards gained into one metric, while accounting for the scoring and turnover environment.

Ever since the college ultimate season ended, we have had a running stream of college stars top the weekly UFA leaderboard. Hawkins, Thoreson, Pettenuzzo, Felton; who’s next? The precocious youth brigade didn’t exactly take a week off—all the above players except for not-in-action Thoreson are back on the board, along with Isaac Lee, William Wettengel, Ezra Beidler-Shenk, and Coby Loveranes—but this is old-school week.

Over the past six seasons, it’s likely that no player has been on the weekly EDGE leaderboard more often than Pawel Janas and Jordan Kerr. This week, both are back on the board in the top 6, with Kerr claiming top honors with his biggest game of an already excellent season (Table 1). But just behind Kerr is the UFA’s all-time everything Cameron Brock, moving his career scoring mark further up the list of records that don’t seem breakable, just behind Cy Young’s 511 career wins.

The next three on the leaderboard—Chad Yorgason, Elliot Hawkins, and Alex Atkins—embellished their Top-10 season resumes while securing playoff spots (Table 3). Atkins has had the top spot in our MVP indicator since Week 3, and maintains inside position heading down the stretch.

In honor of William Wettengel’s seven block performance this week, we’re adding our BreakGenerRater leaderboard to the weekly line-up, to keep tabs on the majority D-line players who best combine block-hunting with offensive productivity. (Table 4).
