AURORA – The classic philosophical irresistible force paradox asks what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. Those familiar with physics know there is no logical answer; both things cannot exist at the same time. However, in the mixed final of the US Open, we saw just that: #1 Ann Arbor Hybrid as the unstoppable force clashing against #2 New York XIST as the immovable object. The result: a clear winner, with force decimating the object.
For the past two seasons, Hybrid have been dominant over their counterparts. Steady and consistent, they showed no signs of faltering. This year, they opened the door to doubt when they lost to both XIST and Sprocket at Pro Elite Challenge East and finished seventh. However, with a perfect record for the weekend, Hybrid won their third US Open in a row, beating XIST with a score of 15-9.
