Better Box Score Metrics: Atlanta Impresses Again [AUDL Week 2, 2023]

Apparently, Brett Hulsmeyer felt that he might get typecast as a defensive specialist if he continued to blow up opposing offenses with gaudy block totals, so instead, in Week 2, he torched Carolina’s defense for 600 yards and six scores. That’s range Meryl or Denzel would be envious of, and nobody who has played at least two games has been as productive as Hulsmeyer.

As a team, Atlanta has 19 turns in its two games, which is one more than the league average for a single game. Matt Smith has basically forgotten how to commit a turnover, with just one throwing error and no drops in his last 11 games going back to last year. With loads of throwing talent on the team, Atlanta looks like it has the pieces for a big year.
