Regionals Results

  • Toronto Torontula were the surprise winners of Metro East Regionals, taking the final 12-7 over New York University Purple Reign. Before this season, it appears that the last time Toronto fielded a team in USA Ultimate play was 2017, though they did win the Canadian University Ultimate Championship this past fall. This will be Toronto’s first-ever appearance at the D-I College Championships.
  • #1 Carleton Syzygy continued their dominant season with an undefeated romp through North Central Regionals. Syzygy allowed seven goals combined in their seven games, which included three bagels and a 15-2 victory over Minnesota Women’s Ultimate in the final. Carleton has taken the regional title every season since 2017.
  • #8 Colorado Quandary rolled to an undefeated weekend at South Central Regionals without allowing more than seven points in any one game. They beat Washington University Iron Horse 15-3 in the final to earn their spot at Nationals.
  • #25 Georgia Athena earned their seventh straight trip to Nationals by winning Southeast Regionals with a 15-8 victory in the tournament final over #24 Florida Fuel.
  • There were five bids at stake this year at Southwest Regionals. #2 UC Santa Cruz took the first one, with a 15-13 victory over #7 Stanford Superfly in the regional final. Stanford also qualified by getting to that game. #17 UCLA BLU upset #15 UC Davis twice (once in pool play and another time in the second place quarterfinal round) to advance as well. #14 Cal Poly SLO SLO Motion upset #10 California-San Diego 13-12 in that same second place quarterfinal round to advance, too. UCSD then rebounded with a 15-8 5th place game victory over UC Santa Barbara Burning Skirts to take the final bid to Nationals.

Looking Ahead

Regional Championships for the Atlantic Coast, Great Lakes, New England, Northwest, and Ohio Valley regions will determine the final bids to Nationals.

  • #16 Michigan MagnUM won Great Lakes Regionals, taking down Davenport Panthers 12-11 to earn their seventh straight trip to Nationals. Playing their first D-I Series after a few years in the D-III division, Davenport had the disc on universe with a chance to break for the upset win, but Michigan earned a block on the first pass of Davenport’s possession.
  • Yale Süperfly were the surprise winners of Metro East Regionals, knocking off surprise finalists Syracuse Doom 15-11. Syracuse upset favored Ottawa GeeGees in the semifinal round, but could not keep their magical weekend going through the final. Yale last made Nationals in 1999.
  • #1 Colorado Mamabird took care of business at South Central Regionals, capping off an undefeated weekend with a 12-10 victory over #13 Texas TUFF in the tournament final. TUFF also earned a spot at Nationals with a 15-13 victory over Colorado State Hibida in the game-to-go.

  • #2 Middlebury Pranksters went undefeated this weekend to win New England Regionals, securing their spot at Nationals with a 9-3 win in the final over #19 Amherst Sparkle Motion. As they’ve done before, #21 Mount Holyoke Daisy Chain stole the second bid to Nationals, knocking off Amherst 11-9 in the game to go. Regionals Results

  • #4 Carleton CHOP emerged victorious at North Central Regionals, defeating #9 Macalester Flat Earth 15-7 in the tournament final. Macalester also qualified for Nationals by virtue of making the final; it will be their first time in program history at Nationals. #7 St. Olaf Berzerkers claimed the third bid, taking down Wisconsin-Eau Claire EauZone 15-10 in the game-to-go.
  • #10 Franciscan Fatal beat #21 Oberlin Flying Horsecows 15-10 to win Ohio Valley Regionals and secure their spot at Nationals.
  • Rochester Piggies earned their fourth straight trip to Nationals by winning Metro East Regionals with a 15-9 victory over #24 Ithaca Nawshus. Rochester was the 13th seed at Regionals after two upsets at Conferences a few weeks ago led the Piggies to take the last bid to Regionals. While we do not have a full research team to back up this claim, surely Rochester is at least among the lowest seeded teams to ever win a Regionals event.
  • #3 Oklahoma Christian Eagles took home another Regional title at South Central Regionals, with a 12-5 victory over #17 Colorado School of Mines Entropy. Mines rebounded to beat Truman State JujiTSU 15-6 in the game-to-go. A round earlier, though, Truman State notched one of their best results in recent memory with a 13-10 upset that knocked out bid earners #13 Colorado College Wasabi.
  • #15 Berry Bucks will return to Nationals after winning Southeast Conferences (which doubles as a regional event). Berry upset #8 Ave Maria Gyrenes 14-12 in the tournament final.

Looking Ahead

Regional Championships for the Great Lakes and New England regions will determine the final bids to Nationals ahead of the D-III College Championships that take place May 16-18 in Waukegan, Illinois.
