High School Power Rankings: Post-Hopkins Hustle Edition [5/14/26]

The favorites took home the titles at Spaghetti Western. Plus, five new teams enter the rankings!

Welcome to the seventh edition of the 2026 High School Power Rankings! The rankings can be permanently found on our Youth Rankings page.

The rankings will eventually be used to determine invitations to the 2026 High School National Invite; currently, we plan to use the rankings published the week of May 18th as the final rankings before final bids are sent out (many bids will be sent out on a rolling basis).

Notes

  • Death, taxes, Edina (MN) looking super strong late in the season. Edina took down the Hopkins Hustle against a deep field of Minnesota contenders and the previous #1 midwest team, Middleton (WI). There were strong performances as well from Washburn (MN), who earned an HSNI bid, and Andover (MN). Andover, however, has been deemed ineligible for HSNI because they are a combo team of players from around the Minnesota metro.
  • Wissahickon (PA) has been looking stronger as we get deeper in the season. They defeated Haverford (PA) for the second straight game at Philadelphia Cities. Haverford’s had the better overall season, but Wissahickon has mostly owned the matchup. Maybe we let them play it out at PA States for an HSNI bid?
  • Lone Peak (UT) came up short against Green Canyon (UT) at States, but they hung tough, ultimately losing by five goals. They are a bubble team looking for a bid.
  • One additional HSNI bid has gone out: Jackson Reed (DC) grabbed a strength bid. They haven’t played in a while, but they’ve been hanging in bid range. Their only losses are to HSNI teams (Lexington, Columbia, Brooklyn Tech) and they have wins over Wissahickon, Columbia, and Montgomery Blair.

Notes

  • Washburn (MN) was absolutely dominant at Hopkins Hustle. They’ve got experience at HSNI and a stacked senior class. Do they have a chance to topple South Eugene (OR) in a month?
  • Lincoln (WA) topped Nathan Hale (WA) in league playoffs as the incredible Seattle battle continues. The Washington state championships are going to be a movie.
  • Lakewood/CA (CO) has earned an HSNI bid after winning the Colorado state championships and continued to look fantastic in a so-far undefeated season.
  • Welcome West (UT), Provo (UT), and Fairview (CO) to the top 25 after strong showings at their respective state championships.
  • Additional HSNI bids have gone out to Alameda (CA) after their excellent Spaghetti Westerns, Strath Haven (PA) after winning states, and West (UT) after winning states.

Looking Ahead

The Pioneer Valley Invite — the biggest tournament of the season in New England — is coming up this weekend! It’s the final HSNI qualifier.

Typically, we send out the final bids next week, but we are considering waiting one additional week for the Pennsylvania Boys state championship to serve as its own qualifier, with the winner getting a bid to HSNI. Oregon’s state championship may also serve as the final bid earning opportunity, depending on the outcome of other tournaments in the next two weekends.
