Welcome to the first edition of the 2019 High School Power Rankings! The rankings can be permanently found on our Youth Rankings page.
Because many youth teams have not played yet this season, these rankings should certainly be considered preliminary and will change during the course of the spring. The rankings will eventually be used to determine invitations to the 2019 High School National Invite; currently, we plan to use the rankings published the week of May 6th as the final rankings before final bids are sent out (many bids will be sent out on a rolling basis).

Without further ado, here are the Top 25 teams in the Boys’ and Girls’ High School Divisions!
High School Boys Power Rankings:

- Defending HSNI champion Grady is back at #1 as they return a big portion of their roster from last year, including star senior Aidan Downey.
- Atlanta rival Paideia comes in at #2 in a major show of strength for Georgia and the Southeast.
- We could see peak years from some northeast teams, including #5 Columbia, #8 Wilson, and #10 Pennsbury.
- The Seattle contingent — four teams deep in this year’s initial top 25 — is perhaps a bit weaker than last year’s class, at least on the top end. But Ingraham hopes to challenge for an HSNI title after winning the Washington state championship in the fall.
- Who will be the top of the Midwest? Center Grove has taken a step back after last year’s peak season. #12 Edina is currently at the top of the heap, and with a young core, they could climb the rankings later this season. (And look out for them next year).
- #15 Berkeley and #21 Gunn are representing California in what could be a big up year.
- A bit of an early shakeup in North Carolina with #6 Chapel Hill coming in ahead of longtime powerhouse #9 Carolina Friends and rising program #18 Carrboro.
- #3 Lone Peak is still standing strong in Utah, but they took losses to both Grady and Paideia on an east coast swing (they soundly beat CFS and Carrboro, though).
High School Girls Power Rankings:

- Seattle remains the dominant city and features six teams in the preseason Top 25 — #1 Franklin, #3 Roosevelt, #10 Cleveland, #11 Garfield, #14 Northwest, and #18 Ingraham.
- Chapel Hill is a very strong #2 but partially on account of their ability to add non-school players, making them a hybrid high school/club team.
- #4 Lone Peak coughed up a late lead to Chapel Hill in a game last week, but got a strong 13-8 win over Paideia.
- #7 Marcus might not play much in the girls HS Division, but they will be a tough out if they do.
- #12 Woodrow Wilson now looks like the best team in the DC/Virginia area as HB Woodlawn lost some key players to graduation.
- Don’t sleep on #20 Knoxville, who made a splash last year and are only getting better.
- Three New Jersey teams make the rankings — #17 West Windsor North, #23 Watchung Hills, and #24 West Windsor South.
