Ultiworld’s College Power Rankings, presented by the National Ultimate Training Camp!
We are excited to present the 2025 preseason College Power Rankings! As we head into a new season, we’ve looked at past performance, roster changes, preseason results, and more to figure out how we think the team could stack up this season. Take a look at our first rankings set of the spring college season and read up about each Top 25 team.
We will be counting down our rankings in three parts:
The #25 to #16
The #15 to #6
The Top 5
D-I Women’s
Contributions from Felicia Zheng, Edward Stephens, Aidan Thomas, and Graham Gordon
16. Utah Spiral Jetty
2024 Finish: #22 in Power Rankings, 19T at Nationals, 16-21 record
The formidable 1-2 punch of Carly Atwell and Lily Terpstra once again headlines Spiral Jetty’s attack. Even in a strong Northwest, they are poised to return to Nationals and could do serious damage there with a step forward from the team’s depth.
17. Victoria Vikes
2024 Finish: #17 in Power Rankings, 19T at Nationals, 17-17 record
Given that they never quite had a full roster in 2024 – even at Nationals – it’s hard to know what to make of their 2025 odds. We’ll (cautiously) take the over, as they return a heap of major contributors, headlined by Abba Brudney.
18. UC Santa Cruz Sol
2024 Finish: #19 in Power Rankings, 17T at Nationals, 15-15 record
Rachel Chang shouldn’t have any issue leading Sol to another strong season, and they have a very solid supporting cast alongside them. How much higher can players like Zane Bird Smith, Goodness Nwakudu, Monica O’Brien Saez, and Ruby Gholston take them this time around?
19. UC Davis Rogue
2024 Finish: #N/A in Power Rankings, N/A at Nationals, 14-16 record
Virtually every key player (Emily Chou, Morgan Strong, Lucy Mertz, Emily Denio) from last year’s Nationals near-miss returns for the 2025 campaign. Rogue’s justified optimism will be put to the test early during a grueling slate of West Coast tournaments.
20. Cal Poly SLO SLOmotion
2024 Finish: #N/A in Power Rankings, N/A at Nationals, 19-19 record
The rumors of SLOmotion’s strong rookie class, in addition to former UC Davis star Margo Donahue joining the program (and younger sib Tucker) for a grad year, might lead to their first ever Nationals appearance.
21. Notre Dame Echo
2024 Finish: #21 in Power Rankings, N/A at Nationals, 23-8 record
All-Region star Lili Hobday leads a strong supporting cast that also includes 2024 Great Lakes rookie of the year Mary Larson. Echo look to break through to Nationals after consecutive game-to-go losses.
22. Wisconsin Bella Donna
2024 Finish: #N/A in Power Rankings, N/A at Nationals, 13-13 record
After years of being close, this feels like Bella Donna’s season to finally make their triumphant return to nationals. All they need is a strong regular season and a little bit of luck to find themselves in Washington come May. Oh – and a second North Central bid.
23. Northeastern Valkyries
2024 Finish: #24 in Power Rankings, N/A at Nationals, 15-12 record
2025 will be a revenge tour for the Valkyries after losing the last strength bid to Nationals in 2024 by one ranking spot. Look to Brute Squad’s Elise Freedman to lead the charge back to the Big Dance.
24. Georgia Athena
2024 Finish: #20 in Power Rankings, 17T at Nationals, 19-10 record
Athena lost a pair of heavy hitters when Fiona Cashin and Sami Chambers graduated. While they have good depth, their Southeast hopes hinge on who will step up alongside Quincy Booth at the top end. Prime candidates for a glow up year include Mia Bongcaron, Jemia Johnson, and Zoe DeLuca.
25. Georgia Tech Wreck
2024 Finish: #N/A in Power Rankings, N/A at Nationals, 18-7 record
A very strong CCC performance in the fall bodes well for Wreck’s spring. Katie Sanders, Makena Bongcaron, and Eva Flomm form part of a talented young core who could bring about a sea change in the Southeast’s pecking order.
D-I Men’s
Contributions from Alex Rubin, Emmet Holton, Edward Stephens, and Graham Gordon
16. California Ursa Major
2024 Finish: #13 in Power Rankings, 13T at Nationals, 34-12 record
Every year Ursa Major seem like they lose a big piece and are ready to take a step back, and every year they make their way to Nationals anyway. And just in case you have been living in a cave for the last three years, let’s get this out of the way: Dexter Clyburn is a Player of the Year candidate.
17. Washington Sundodgers
2024 Finish: #23 in Power Rankings, N/A at Nationals, 21-14 record
The Sundodgers are having a youth movement — can young players like Carter Bayer, Jak Lin, and Willie Saxen make a splash in 2025? But veterans like David Zhou and (if healthy) Assaf Golan will hold the keys.
18. Victoria Vikes
2024 Finish: #N/A in Power Rankings, N/A at Nationals, 11-21 record
Who’s the best team in Canada? With all due respect to Ottawa and UBC, it could be the Vikes. Stars Max Pettenuzzo and Nyle Lebbell were among the best players on a strong Furious George side at Club Nationals.
19. UC Santa Cruz Slugs
2024 Finish: #20 in Power Rankings, N/A at Nationals, 21-18 record
The Slugs came on late in 2024, pushing Cal to the brink in the game to go but falling short of Nationals. A healthy Selim Jones, impressive rookie class, and Toby Warren coming off of a club semifinal appearance with Revolver may see them return to bid-earning form.
20. Brown Brownian Motion
2024 Finish: #1 in Power Rankings, 1 at Nationals, 29-12 record
The defending champions might not be used to being this far down the Power Rankings, but the conflicting forces of significant personnel losses and stellar coaching/team building leave Brown hovering around the edge of the Nationals picture. Jason Tapper and Eli Chang will be among the players tasked with keeping the program’s ceiling high.
21. Georgia Tech Tribe
2024 Finish: #N/A in Power Rankings, N/A at Nationals, 16-9 record
Big things are brewing at Georgia Tech. The talent is shaping up, the tournament schedule is conducive to bid-earning, and we could see Tribe finally get back to Nationals. U24 Team USA brothers Adam and Sam Grossberg will be electric together.
22. Northeastern Huskies
2024 Finish: #N/A in Power Rankings, N/A at Nationals, 19-11 record
The Huskies have lost some big pieces over the past couple of years, but Peter Boerth’s greatness should lead them to contend for a bid. After a few seasons of misses, is this the year they finally get back to the Big Dance? It has been a long time since 2021.
23. Utah Zion Curtain
2024 Finish: #N/A in Power Rankings, N/A at Nationals, 21-15 record
Here’s a topsy-turvy fact for you: Zion Curtain’s young stars (Oscar Brown, Grayson Rettberg, Will Selfridge) made Club Nationals with Salt Lake Shrimp before they made College Nationals. That experience should prove valuable this season as they navigate a competitive region.
24. Utah Valley Ultimate
2024 Finish: #N/A in Power Rankings, N/A at Nationals, 29-8 record
If you have any insight into how the four big Beehive State programs – Utah, UVU, Utah State, and BYU – stack up this season, let us know. We give an early edge to UVU with star-level talent like Porter Oyler and Derik Knighton on board for an ambitious 2025 campaign.
25. Ottawa Gee-Gees
2024 Finish: #25 in Power Rankings, 19T at Nationals,13-5 record
Word on the street is that the Gee-Gees are going for it again in the 2025 Metro East. Will that mean they play regular season games? Hard to say. What isn’t hard to say is that Marty Gallant, Maxime Ayad, and Logan Keillor are going to be awesome.
