D-I Women’s Division Discussion
- Carleton caps their undefeated season with a national title, maintaining the #1 position Syzygy have held since the first official rankings this year. UBC is back up to #2 after running to the final for the second year in a row and winning every match by four or more points.
- In another world, Tufts is a 2026 national finalist. A universe point drop away from dethroning Carleton, EWO’s impressive run sees them through to the top three for the first time this year.
- Though Penn couldn’t crack through to semis, Venus make the top five by virtue of defeating Stanford in pool play and topping a tricky Pool D. Also in Pool D: Vermont and Washington, with Element falling behind Ruckus after losing on universe and failing to make the bracket despite being perceived as one of the top teams in the nation.
- Michigan, Georgia and Toronto are the other big rankings winners. Both Georgia and Michigan pulled off multiple upsets to rise from the fifth seed in their pools to make prequarters and Toronto nearly did the same, taking down UC San Diego by three and playing close with UC Santa Cruz and Tufts.

D-I Men’s Division Discussion
- Massachusetts Zoodisc are your new #1, beating five out of seven quarterfinalists en route to a national title while never conceding more than 11 goals. It is one of the most dominating Nationals runs we’ve seen in the division, and quite a climb from March, when Zoodisc were ranked outside the top 10.
- Pennsylvania schools Pittsburgh and Penn State both broke seed to make it through to quarterfinals, as Pittsburgh took down UNC in pool play and broke twice in a row to pull away from Georgia Tech in prequarters, while Penn State overcame an 11-6 deficit to beat Oregon State on universe and make quarters in one of the craziest comebacks on the weekend.
- Western Washington DiRT repeated their miracle run from last season, upsetting UNC on universe to keep Darkside from the bracket for the first time since 2021, and tacking on another win for good measure with a 6-1 run to put away UC Santa Cruz.
- Maryland continued their surprise season, starting off hot with a win over Brown in the opening round that saw stars Miles Grovic and Isaac Lee combine for seven assists and four blocks. Space Bastards bookended pool play with a universe point win over Michigan to make the bracket for the first time ever.

D-III Women’s Division Discussion
- Middlebury Pranksters became the winningest team in women’s D-III history with their fourth championship title, beating all of the other three semifinalists and never allowing double-digit goals in the bracket.
- After never being ranked higher than #5 all season, Whitman proved the pundits wrong with a strong run to the final, with their most impressive win being a 15-4 thumping of overall no.2 seed Haverford/Bryn Mawr to claim Pool B.
- The Sneetches also took a 15-4 loss in semis to Middlebury after a grueling universe point comeback against overall no.1 seed Davenport in quarters. Wesleyan thus appeared to be the clear third-best team in Waukegan, dropping the top two seeds to the back of the top 5 rankings.
- Rice, Santa Clara, and Richmond are the other big risers from the College Championships. A Ria Stevens-led Torque held seed but exceeded expectations, playing Carleton close in pool play and making quarters with a win over Santa Clara. RAGE, at their first-ever Nationals, handily upset a Union team handicapped by graduation to make the bracket and jump into the top 15.
- Richmond only won one game, also against a team lacking firepower due to graduation in Colorado C0llege. The win was enough to vault them into the top 25, but not enough to leap a Zenith squad we expect would be more competitive at full strength.

D-III Men’s Division Discussion
- Middlebury Pranksters complete the Power Rankings sweep, starting the season at #1 and never relinquishing their spot — and more importantly, finally claiming the national title after three runner-up placements since 2021.
- Respect to Carleton CHOP for making the final, but our rankers viewed Elon as the second-best team at Nationals. They took down fellow semifinalists Oklahoma Christian on universe in pool play to claim Pool D and played Middlebury to 15-12 in semis, the Pranksters’ slimmest margin of victory all postseason.
- St. Olaf had a strong tournament, upsetting 2025 champions Lewis & Clark in the last round of pool play to take Pool C and the bye to quarters, where they nearly pulled off another upset in a universe point battle with Oklahoma Christian. The ‘Zerks fell definitively to Williams in the game for fifth, leaving WUFO only with losses to the finalists on their ledger.
- There was some discussion of how much to factor in consolation play, without which Williams would fall to #7, below Claremont. Ultimately, the refreshed rosters (many getting players back after graduation) and more consolation games than in D-I led rankers to include consolation play.
- Berry and Colorado Mines both rose from the bottom seed in their pools to make prequarters, with Entropy defeating a graduation-strapped Macalester and Berry beating Whitman on universe in the last round of pool play. The Bucks took it one step further, beating overall no.3 seed Lewis & Clark to make quarters.
- Heavy is the crown, and Lewis & Clark wasn’t able to replicate its championship-winning ways of yesteryear. Though they finished with a positive point differential, back-t0-back two-point losses were enough to bounce Bacchus before the round of eight, and similarly drop them outside our top eight in the rankings.
- Hillsdale is the biggest riser across any division, largely off the back of their consolation performance. The Chargers beat Whitman on universe and thumped Rochester while playing a Suelflow-supercharged Macalester (Kyle and Owen combined for 10 of Flat Earth’s 15 goals in the game) within two.
