BURLINGTON, WA — Day 2 at Nationals delivered the drama, the heartbreak, and the heroics we hope for at a tournament like this. From emotional universe-point victories to individual brilliance on both sides of the disc, Saturday had no shortage of highlight-reel plays and legacy-defining moments. They reminded us that greatness can come from anywhere — and that no one is ever really out of it until the final point is scored.

7. Oregon Completes Prequarter Comeback over UC Santa Barbara

Fugue have been hovering just outside the realm of title contention for a few years now, and it seemed like this was finally the year for them to make it happen. While their title hopes very much remain to be seen, the first step on that journey was to make it out of the prequarter round. That path did not look promising when Oregon turfed a throw right before half and went down 8-6.

Things got interesting when Oregon started to lock in and the game was tied at 10s, then 11s. The pressure mounted for both teams when soft cap sounded, game to 13. UCSB came out on offense with a chance to force universe, but a deep throw sailed just out of Devin Quinn’s reach. Grace Craig made an phenomenal effort to get the disc back in a heart-stopping moment, laying out disrupt an under to Trout Weybright—lucky for Oregon’s title hopes, the disc only wobbled on impact and continued to fly into Weybright’s clap catch. He launched an immediate huck to the end zone and it was over for UCSB. Phew, that was a close one!
