High School Power Rankings: Early April Edition [4/10/25]

Which teams are the early favorites for HSNI bids?

Welcome to the third edition of the 2025 High School Power Rankings! The rankings can be permanently found on our Youth Rankings page.

The rankings will eventually be used to determine invitations to the 2025 High School National Invite; currently, we plan to use the rankings published the week of May 19th as the final rankings before final bids are sent out (many bids will be sent out on a rolling basis).

If you have additional information about tournaments or team strength that you would like to be considered for the High School Power Rankings, please email [email protected]. Teams, if you would like to add logos and team information to your Team Pages, follow these instructions!

Without further ado, here are the Top 25 teams in the Boys’ and Girls’ High School Divisions!

Notes

  • It was a great weekend for #4 JR Masterman, who dominated everyone at Born to Dive including wins over ranked teams Lower Merion and Columbia. It was a strong follow-up to their 3rd place performance at YULA Invite, where their only loss came to #1 Jackson-Reed. They have been invited to HSNI.
  • #3 Lakeside, the 2024 Georgia state champs, have also earned an HSNI invite after beating RECA and East Chapel Hill earlier this season and dominating their Georgia in-state rivals.
  • Utah teams are seeing some re-rating after some more info has come in about some of their graduated players. We’ll see how Lone Peak holds up at Indy Invite as a good indicator of where they fit into the national picture.
  • It was a nice bounceback weekend for #16 Lower Merion, who beat Strath Haven and got a number of dominant wins at Born to Dive. Their only loss came to Masterman.
  • We’re still waiting for more meaningful play in New England and Minnesota to start to slot those teams into more clear rankings.

Notes

  • #4 Garfield has rocketed up the rankings after Seattle Invite and Washington league play, where they’ve only come up short against #1 Roosevelt. They dropped games to #3 Summit back in March and have a head-to-head win over #5 Paideia. They’ve accepted a bid to HSNI.
  • Garfield isn’t way out in front of the rest of the Washington pack behind Roosevelt. Nathan Hale, Ingraham, and Lincoln have been extremely competitive both with Garfield and with each other throughout the season. Expect a heavy Seattle contingent at HSNI.
  • #11 West has emerged as the best team in Utah. They went to the Seattle Invite and hung tough but still emerged behind that very strong group of Washington teams. Bingham and Provo have been strong in local 5v5 play with typical powerhouses Green Canyon and Lone Peak looking off the pace to start the year.
  • #16 El Cerrito remains the dominant team in California and has not lost a game. It will be exciting to see how they perform at Spaghetti Western in a few weeks.
  • #15 Edina got a huge 15-5 win over #23 South in Minnesota league play, upending preseason expectations for how good South could be. Still, South is a team that builds up over the course of the year, so let’s see what they bring later this season.

Looking Ahead

The next big event is this weekend’s Indy Invite, which will feature a lot of strong Midwest boys teams, including RECA, Independence, Edwardsville, West Jessamine, Middleton, and, traveling from Utah, Lone Peak.

League play continues around the country and will ramp up in northern states like Massachusetts and Minnesota as they thaw out from the winter.

Later this month, keep an eye on Spring Fling in New Jersey and some state championships, including Georgia, Indiana, and Kentucky.
