Mixed Discussion
- The HoDown Showdown in Asheville this past weekend gave us our best look yet at the pecking order in the suddenly competitive and deep Southeast, as a handful of fringe Top 25 teams met to jockey for positioning — and try to consolidate some strength bids for the region. Huntsville Space Force continued their undefeated season, maintaining their spot at #16 on our board and potentially setting themselves up as the region’s top seed entering the Series, despite some closer calls against unranked opposition. Next up, Athens Murmur and Atlanta Dirty Bird did enough to inch to the top of a the pile and each enter the back end of the Top 25 for the first time in program history. The Peach State pair finished second and third at the tournament, with Murmur topping their Georgian neighbors in pool play. They both bested Charlotte Storm in Asheville and bump the former #23 out of the rankings this week, though only just.
- Also falling out this week to make space for the newcomers are Boise Lochsa, who have been idle so far this season and without appearing on the team list for either regional tournament in the Northwest this coming weekend appear to have perhaps folded entirely.

While the ultimate community’s attention has largely been focused elsewhere in a summer full of incredible international competition, the domestic 2022 USAU Club Season is somehow already more than two months in. In the wake of the first leg of the Triple Crown Tour, we’re going to take a closer look at how our Top 25 teams have performed in their early season events — and what that could mean looking ahead.
