Club Power Rankings [July 28, 2021]

See how teams stack up a month into the 2021 season.

While we haven’t done so for the first few updates of 2021, we’re reinstating an old format for releasing our club Power Rankings. We’ll post each updated edition here on the front page to facilitate discussion in the comments and help us share each week’s rankings via social media. The most up-to-date version can always be found on our permanent rankings page.

Our 2021 Club Power Rankings are presented by ARIA Discs, who believes ultimate is more than a sport — it’s a community. You can join ARIA to change the world through ultimate.

Mixed Discussion

  • #1 Philadelphia AMP and #2 Washington DC Space Heater weren’t as dominant as perhaps expected in their round robin this weekend, but it’s hard to drop them from the top spaces without seeing any on-field action or even finalized rosters from the teams directly below them on our board. For now, the top two stay put. The team that did benefit from their showing at the Mid-Atlantic round robin is DC Rally, who enter the Top 25 at #20 after playing to within one of both AMP and Space Heater as the hosts of the tournament.
  • There were four one-loss teams at the conclusion of the Select Flight Invite East who took wins off each other and end up clumped tightly in our updated rankings. New squad Cleveland Crocs make their first appearance at #16, just ahead of the falling Columbus Cocktails and Ann Arbor Hybrid — both teams Cleveland beat in the SFI bracket. Nashville ‘Shine continues to climb the rankings, now sitting at #21 as the only team to beat the Crocs in Columbus.

Women’s Discussion

  • With no competitive action this past weekend, there are no changes to the women’s Top 25 this week, though the San Francisco Fury roster release certainly had us considering bumping them ahead of Brute Squad for the top spot.

Men’s Discussion

  • Most of the movement this week stems from the Mid-Atlantic round robin held over the weekend. Washington DC Truck Stop drops one spot and out of the Top 10 thanks to splitting a pair of blowouts with Pittsburgh Temper, who subsequently move up a spot to #15. Virginia Vault also vault ahead two places thanks to a split of their own with Temper at the same event.
  • Madison Mad Men enter the board for the first time after a dominant showing at Select Flight Invite East. They debut this week at #20, bumping out Indianapolis Brickyard.
