Women’s Discussion
- The biggest story of PEC West’s effect on the rankings is San Francisco Nightlock, who moved up at a near double-digit clip, defeating Traffic and Kelp while not getting blown out by the title contenders.
- Pop wasn’t far behind Nightlock, jumping seven spots after wins over Phoenix and Starling. What does it mean for the region?
- Phoenix and Traffic were on the losing end of those big risers, so it isn’t surprise to see these longstanding programs slipping into the ranking’s bottom half. Raleigh got creamed by Scandal and dropped games to Pop and Flight, while Traffic lost to Schwa, Nightlock, and Nemesis.

Men’s Discussion
- No surprise here: Portland Rhino Slam! is the new #1 after beating former top-ranked Revolver in the PEC West final. There’s a lot to go between now and Nationals, but the championship chase looks enticing.
- Eugene Dark Star was one of the biggest surprises at PEC West and were rewarded with a nine-spot boost to #15. Making semifinals and beating Sockeye – who fell six spots – will do that.
- Newly ranked Quebec Quake and Chicago Haymaker both won regional tournaments over ranked teams to earn their spots. Quake topped Blueprint at Boston Invite, while Haymaker bested Mad Men at Heavyweights. Could one of these teams be a surprise Nationals qualifier?

Mixed Discussion
- What would you do with Sego, dear reader? They took down PBR and Mischief, who you’ll find hanging out in the top 11, but also were outdone by Lotus and Burrito on Sunday. We decided to reward their ability to play up against top teams, but tempered that.
- Lotus put together a strong weekend with wins over BFG and Tower (whom they also lost to), which only adds to the complication and movement of tangled web of the Southwest. We just might not get clarity during this regular season.
- Mile High Trash and Lawless both fell from the rankings with their PEC West performances. MHT went 2-4, losing to Scorch and get torched by Mischief 15-7. Lawless pulled off a rare feat of being the top seed and going winless. Perhaps these programs will bounce back as the season progresses, or perhaps they are, as the kids say, cooked.
