Women’s Discussion

  • In for a penny, in for a pound, and Dallas Dimes are in for a four-spot boost after finishing second at SFI East. They played 6ixers to the same scoreline as Quebec Iris but get the nod for making it to the championship game.
  • Call it the trickle down effect: Northampton Starling are also up big after making it to SFI East semis before falling to Dimes, while the team Starling beat in quarters – Ottawa Stella – enter the rankings on the right side of the top 20. In addition to making the bracket, Stella’s resume boasts a two-game split with #18 Madison Heist.
  • Oakland LOL dominated SFI West, never allowing more than five points in a game – though they did not get to play the second-place finisher, San Diego Wildfire. Romping through a field that included Oakland FAB and previously ranked Utah Dark Sky bodes well for the rest of their season, and their position in our power rankings.

Men’s Discussion

  • New York Blueprint’s run to the SFI East final, where they put up a respectable 15-10 loss to a Toronto GOAT team that otherwise did not surrender double-digits at the tournament, spots them a place in the top 25.
  • Over at SFI West, it was splitting hairs between Eugene Dark Star and Chicago Trident, and Trident and Santa Cruz Wavestorms, whose bracket games went to universe point. This marks Wavestorms’ first appearance in our power rankings, and Trident’s second, with their first appearance coming in 2023.

Mixed Discussion

  • Toronto Union ertr a force at SFI East, posting a +26 aggregate in the bracket on the way to an undefeated win. That type of result will get you noticed, especially in the back end of the rankings where teams’ ledgers are a mixed bag. It would be a cruel twist of fate if Hybrid failed to earn a strength bid.
  • A 3-3 weekend, with losses to RAMP, Star Power, and Big Rig, torpedoed Nashville ‘Shine’s ranking. They are 6-6 on the season, with their best win being 13-11 over Port Authority. While it is only the early season, and Southeast Regionals is a stage for surprises, the warning signs are there.
  • The good news for Boston Wild Card? SFI East was another 5-1 showing, bringing them to a strong 12-6 on the year. But they got trounced by Union, making them look more like an also-ran than a contender. Still, they’ve done enough to merit a spot at #22.
