D-I Women’s Discussion

  • Results from Stanford Invite shake up the pecking order of West Coast powers, as the hosts rocket up the board and UCLA continue to sink. Meanwhile, Carleton make a compelling case to join a tier with #1 North Carolina.
  • After a disappointing performance at Midwest Throwdown, WashU slide out of the Top 25, allowing undefeated SUNY Binghamton to take their place at the back end.
  • Subscribers can read about what we see as each team’s best win and worst loss of the season so far.

D-I Men’s Discussion

  • It was a wild weekend in Knoxville, with the Smoky Mountain Invite dramatically reshaping the D-I Men’s landscape to start off March. We have a new #1 in SMI champ Brown while Georgia plummet 18 spots thanks to a 2-5 weekend.
  • The top performers at the Stanford Invite all move up, with Washington back inside the top 5 and other semifinalists Cal, Tufts, and Oregon all working their way into the top 15.
  • Tulane and idle Illinois fall out of the rankings, replaced by UCLA and Maryland squads that both impressed at Smoky Mountain.
  • Subscribers can read about what we see as each team’s best win and worst loss of the season so far.

Read below for writeups on each team in our Top 25 Power Rankings!

For D-III, our first rankings update of the spring comes with brief writeups about what we’ve seen from teams so far and what we expect for the rest of the season.

By this point in the spring, a vast majority of competitive D-I programs have taken the field for tournament competition, many of them multiple times. While some have shown consistency – whether through an easier schedule or through some truly impressive performances – many others have had the typical ups and downs that come with figuring out how all the pieces fit together. Upset wins and unexpected losses are often touchstone moments for a team’s growth, providing glimpses into their high-end potential or their worst-case scenarios. Today, we’re examining each D-I team’s best win and worst loss (if they have one) of 2022, and what they might tell us about how their season is coming along.
