D-I Women’s Division Discussion
- The week’s biggest movers are Southwest teams moving in different directions: Stanford’s run the Stanford Invite final moved them to the head of the region, while UC Santa Cruz’s losses on the weekend — including to UC Davis — pulled them down four spots.
- The other team to move four spots was Northeastern, and they went up like they were looking for the top of the map. The Valks went out west and scored a big win over UC Davis and went blow-for-blow to UCSC. While they only earned two wins, they looked the part on the field.
- Notre Dame returned to the top 25 after American dropped a game to Brown B, all but dooming their candidacy for the rankings.

D-I Men’s Division Discussion
- It’s a “to the victor, the spoils” type of week after UNC took down all comers at a stacked Smoky Mountain Invite, despite playing without Ben Dameron and with other key personnel in and out of the lineup. They more than earned the top spot.
- UMass, UNC’s opponent in the SMI final, did play some close games, but ultimately put together a strong enough resume to move up three places to #2.
- The top two spots were vacated by Oregon and Carleton, respectively. CUT lost both of their last two games, in semis to UMass and third place to Colorado, while Oregon lost to Carleton and was somewhat uninspiring on the whole.
- New England was a big winner on the weekend: Brown rose nine places and Vermont went up eight and entered the top 10, along with Northeastern. UVM really could have broken through if they could have flipped close losses to Oregon and Carleton, but the region now has four top 15 teams, bucking preseason expectations.
- For the first time since April 2019, Georgia is ranked behind another team in the Southeast. This comes after a four-loss SMI where they lost head to head to Georgia Tech, got wrecked by Vermont, and lost to Pitt 15-10. Think you can name who was ranked ahead of UGA in 2019?1 GT might be the top ranked team in the region, but also fell to the edge of the top 20.
- Texas’ 3-4 showing looks better than it was — two of those wins were over Tennessee and Minnesota, the only unranked teams at the tournament. Hence their eight-spot fall, taking them from top 10 to the brink of the top 15.

23 | Lehigh | -4 | 19 |
24 | Claremont | -1 | 23 |
25 | Richmond | -1 | 24 |
D-III Women’s Division Discussion
- Kenyon was the week’s biggest riser, cracking the top 20 after another dominant performance. They have surrendered 23 goals across two tournaments, although only one team they’ve beaten has played at any event outside of where they faced Kenyon (and that’s UNC B). But can’t knock a team for cleaning their plate.
- Lehigh dropped four spots to #23 after their Cherry Blossom Classic performance included a loss to unranked Catholic. The weather seemed like it somewhat buried teams, so consider Lehigh’s position still volatile.
- Weather likewise is leading rankers to take Garden State results with a heaping plate of salt, but Rochester’s win over Wellesley is still enough for a two spot rise.
- Colorado College had a romp at Snow Melt and moved up to #8.

D-III Men’s Division Discussion
- Gotta start with UNC Asheville, don’t we? They debut in the top 25 at #10 after a run to the final of D-III River City Showdown that included a signature win over Carleton CHOP. With Elon’s strong performance and Richmond’s mixed results (3-0 in pool play, 0-3 after that at the same event) thus far, the AC is getting very intriguing.
- Colorado Mines went 5-1 at Snow Melt, pushing into the final and giving Lewis & Clark a handful in the loss. That showing bumped Mines up nine spots to #16.
- Williams fell from the top five to #9 after a pool play loss to Boston University as part of a 4-2 weekend at UMass Invite.
- After some preseason expectations for a breakout season, Macalester stalled out a bit at Midwest Throwdown. They went 3-4, with all three wins coming over D-I dev teams.
- Taking down Garden State was enough to get Bowdoin into the top 25, taking one of the spots left open by Cedarville and Michigan Tech.
